Hasina still conspiring to create unrest: Rizvi

FE REPORT | November 23, 2024 00:00:00

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Friday that ousted autocratic ruler Sheikh Hasina staying in India is constantly hatching conspiracy to create unrest in Bangladesh.

"Sheikh Hasina fled to India on August 5, leaving her party activists in trouble," he said while addressing a rally in front of the BNP headquarters at Naya Paltan in the capital.

The rally was organised in protest against the killings of rickshaw- and van-pullers during the July-August mass uprising against the fascist regime of Sheikh Hasina.

"The misrule of Sheikh Hasina won't come back to Bangladesh," Mr Rizvi maintained.

He alleged that Sheikh Hasina's collaborators are engaged in creating unrest in the country by spending the looted money.

The senior BNP leader urged the Bangladesh Bank governor to take action against the collaborators of Sheikh Hasina in the banking sector.

He lamented for the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities and called upon the interim government to control the price spiral as public woes have mounted.

Rizvi alleged that detained Awami League leader Salman F Rahman and others were hatching conspiracy against the interim government and the country.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's Special Assistant Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, among others, was present.

Meanwhile, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's adviser Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal has urged the government authorities to give her back the house located at Dhaka cantonment, which was taken away from her during the fascist regime of Sheikh Hasina.

He made the call while talking to the media after paying respects to the grave of BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on Friday.

"BNP wants to keep trust in the newly constituted election commission (EC) which will prove its own efficiency."
