HC grants anticipatory bail to 23 accused

The High Court (HC) on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to Maulana Saad's followers Syed Wasiful Islam and 22 others in a case over the recent clashes at Tongi Ijtema ground resulting to deaths of few pilgrims, reports BSS.

The HC bench comprising Justice Mohammad Mahbub-ul-Islam and Justice Md Hamidur Rahman granted the bail until submission of police report when the accused appeared before the court and sought bail.

Senior lawyer of the Supreme Court (SC) Abdullah Al-Mamun moved for the petitioners.

Advocate Abdullah Al-Mamun, after the bail order, told the journalists that of the accused there are many senior citizens including former secretary and university professors.
