HC hearing on writ seeking better treatment for Khaleda today

Two accused will file no-confidence motion against judge in Zia Charitable Trust case

The High Court (HC) has fixed today (Tuesday) for hearing a writ petition seeking its directive on the authorities concerned for providing better treatment to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in jail, reports UNB.

A bench of Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif and Justice Ahmed Sohel passed the order.

Earlier on September 09, the writ petition was filed stating that Khaleda has been suffering from chronic diseases and so she needs to be taken to a specialised hospital for better treatment.

Six people, including home secretary, Inspector General of Prisons, Dhaka civil surgeon, deputy commissioner, were made respondents.

Meanwhile, Two accused in Zia Charitable Trust Graft case on Monday in a written application expressed no-confidence on the judge of the special makeshift court in the Old Central Jail in the city.

Two accused in the case - Ziaul Islam Munna and Monirul Islam - surrendered before the Special Judge Court-5 Judge Md Akhteruzzaman, after expiry of their bail terms. The court rejected the bail plea of Munna and sent him to jail while extending Monirul's bail until Tuesday.
