HC rejects writ seeking appointment of CJ

The High Court (HC) rejected on Sunday the writ petition that challenged the inaction of the authorities to fill the post of the Chief Justice, reports UNB.

The HC bench of Justice Zinat Ara and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo passed the order.

Earlier on January 3, Advocate Eunus Ali Akond submitted the petition to the HC seeking its directives why the inaction of the authorities to fill the post of the Chief Justice should not be declared unconstitutional.

The post of Chief Justice fell vacant for more than two months following resignation of Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha on November 10 last year.
