HC restores Algi, Hamirdi unions to Faridpur-4 constituency

The High Court(HC) has declared illegal the Election Commission's gazette that had detached Algi and Hamirdi unions under Bhanga upazila from Faridpur-4 constituency and attached them to Faridpur-2, reports BSS.

A HC bench of Justice Md Mozibur Rahman Miah and Justice Md Hamidur Rahman delivered the verdict, declaring absolute a rule it had issued earlier. The court also directed the authorities to cancel the previous gazette within 24 hours and issue a new one restoring Algi and Hamirdi unions to Faridpur-4 constituency.

Barrister Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallob moved a writ petition filed in this connection. He told reporters that with today's verdict, Algi and Hamirdi unions of Bhanga upazilla have been reinstated in Faridpur-4.
