I will take poison if Jamaat wins in my seat: BNP candidate Fazlur

November 23, 2025 00:00:00

BNP candidate Fazlur Rahman has said he will 'drink poison' if the Jamaat-e-Islami candidate wins the Kishoreganj-4 seat, reports bdnews24.com.

He made the remark while speaking at an election rally in the constituency at Itna Sadar union on Friday.

The freedom fighter said, "Let me see the hands of those who stand in favour of the Liberation War."

Almost everyone in the crowd raised their hands.

He then said, "Now let's see if anyone can raise their hands in favour of the Razakar."

When no one responded, he said: "Not a single hand has been raised for the Razakar. Yet they still want to form a government through this election.

"If Jamaat wins in Itna, Mithamoin, Austagram, I will drink poison."

Fazlur also claimed Jamaat survives in Bangladesh through 'mercy'.

He said, "Their existence is due to the mercy of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, of Ziaur Rahman, and of Khaleda Zia."

In 2001, Khaleda granted their appeal for protection, he added.

"Now they call the BNP sycophants, fraudsters, and thieves. No one else uses such words except Jamaat.

“They are hypocrites, dishonest and ungrateful. They attack whoever shelters them.”
