Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul has said the government may form International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-3 to expedite trials of crimes, including enforced disappearance, reports BSS.
"We are giving the highest priority to the trial of crimes against humanity. We are committed to ensuring justice for all crimes committed by the previous government, including killings, enforced disappearances and torture," the Law Adviser told journalists after inspecting the ICT building and its adjoining areas in the capital on Tuesday.
"Once the tin-shed building (now housing ICT-2) adjacent to the main tribunal building becomes vacant, we may establish ICT-3 there. If this happens, trials for enforced disappearances and other international crimes will be expedited."
Dr Nazrul mentioned that judges, along with the prosecution and investigation teams, are working with great sincerity on cases related to crimes against humanity.
"In the interest of the country and restoration of democracy, it is essential to establish justice and rule of law and human rights,” he added.
