The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has ordered four police officers to appear in court over a genocide case related to incidents in Jatrabari during the student-led mass uprising in July and August, report agencies.
The order was issued on Tuesday by a three-member panel headed by tribunal chief Justice Golam Mortuza Mozumder.
While the name of Jatrabari Police Station's Inspector (Investigation) Zakir Hossain was disclosed, Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam chose not to reveal the names of the other three officers.
We had requested arrest warrants for four police officers, and the court has approved it," said Tajul.
"I am naming one of them -- Inspector Zakir Hossain from Jatrabari Police Station. He is currently on the run."
Tajul added that the three unnamed officers were also working at Jatrabari Police Station and were allegedly involved in the 'atrocity'.
