ICT sends Amu, Qamrul to jail in genocide case

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has showed former ministers Amir Hossain Amu and Advocate Qamrul Islam arrested in a case lodged over murder, genocide and crimes against humanity committed by the past Awami League government while trying to quell student-led July-August mass uprising, reports BSS.

The three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order on Wednesday, allowing a plea of the prosecution. Prosecutors Gazi MH Tamim and BM Sultan Mahmud took part in t hearing, reading out the charges brought against them by the investigation agency.

The tribunal after that sent the duo to jail.

Confirming the information, Prosecutor Abdullah Al Noman said the tribunal on December 2 had issued the production warrant against Amu and Qamrul under ICT BD miscellaneous case 03/2024.
