November 13, 2021 00:00:00

Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim on Friday said BNP founder Ziaur Rahman and Khandaker Mostaq enacted the law of Indemnity Ordinance to protect the killers after the assassination of Bangabandhu in 1975, terming it as the worst law in history, reports BSS.

He said this while addressing a senior agriculturists' conference at Krishibid Institution at Khamarbari in the capital.

Nasim said on this day, November 12, 1996, the most heinous indemnity law was repealed in Parliament.

"After the assassination of Bangabandhu, the killers wanted to legitimize the assassination. So, they passed the Indemnity Ordinance, then in 1979 Ziaur Rahman incorporated it into the constitution," he said.
