A Dhaka court has fixed September 09 for hearing on framing of charges against the accused in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad murder case, reports BSS.
Abu Zafar Md Kamruzzaman, judge of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1, set the date on Wednesday.
State counsel Mosharraf Hossain Kajal and Ehsanul Haque Somaji concluded the hearing in the court.
22 accused of the case were produced before the court during the hearing.
Charges of 13 accused were heard before the court and the court fixed September 09 as the new date for framing the charges against the remaining persons.
"As this is a sensational case the nation is looking for justice. Therefore, I am appealing to form charges against the accused under Section 302 of the Penal Code," Mosharraf Hossain Kajal said.
Ehsanul Haque Samaji said, "There were enough elements to frame charges in the case. I will appeal to the court to ensure that justice is established in the light of the law."
Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of Electric and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Department of BUET, was beaten to death inside the university's Sher-e-Bangla Hall in the early hours of October 07.
Police recovered his body from between the ground floor and the first floor of the Sher-e-Bangla Hall of BUET at 3:00 am.
Later, Abrar's father Barkat Ullah filed a murder case against 19 people with Chawkbazar thana.
On November 13, 2019, Wahiduzzaman, the investigating officer of the case, filed a charge sheet against 25 people in the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
Of the 25 accused, 19 are named in the Ejahar while 16 among them were arrested.
Six were included in the investigation report among which, 05 were arrested.
Eight among the accused have given confessional statement before the court.
The 22 arrestees of the case include Mehedi Hasan Russell, Md Anik Sarkar, Ifti Mosharraf Sokal, Md Mehedi Hasan Robin, Md Meftahul Islam Zion, Muntasir Alam Jamie, Khandaker Tabakhkharul Islam Tanvir, Md Mujahidur Rahman, Muhtasim Fuad, Md Moniruzzaman Monir, Md Akash Hossain, Hossain Mohammad Toha and Majedur Rahman.
