A Dhaka court has set April 24 to hold hearing on framing charges in two cases lodged against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, reports BSS.
Monday was fixed for holding hearing on the matters, but the defence pleaded to allow them time in the cases.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor set the date accepting a time plea of Khaleda's counsel.
Journalist Gazi Zahirul Islam on August 30, 2016, filed a case against the BNP chief for observing fake birthday on August 15.
Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad president AB Siddiqui filed another defamation case on November 3, 2016, against Khaleda Zia and her late husband Ziaur Rahman for stigmatising the War of Liberation by rehabilitating anti- liberation war elements.
The BNP chairperson is now in bail in these two cases as Dhaka metropolitan session judge Imrul Kayes allowed her pleas on July 31, 2018.
