Inquilab Moncho members continued their blockade programme at Shahbagh intersection in city on Saturday for the second consecutive day, demanding justice for the murder of its spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.

The protest, which started on Friday afternoon, continued through the night and entered Saturday.

The blockade was briefly lifted on Saturday morning to allow BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to visit Osman Hadi's grave at Dhaka University.

At that time, the protesters moved their position from Shahbagh intersection to in front of Aziz Supermarket.

After Tarique Rahman completed his visit and left the area, Inquilab Moncho resumed their protest at Shahbagh intersection.

At around 12:30 pm, Inquilab Moncho supporters, including both men and women of various ages, began marching from in front of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University and positioned themselves at Shahbagh again, halting traffic in the area.

The platform's leaders declared that the protest would continue until their demands are met. Inquilab Moncho member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber said that they received no response from the government so far, and warned that the movement could escalate to block the Jamuna and the Parliament House.

Addressing advisers, Jaber warned that no "safe exit" would be provided for those in power who are planning to flee the country after their term.

"If you betray the people, you will be judged by the public right here on this soil," he said.

Earlier, on Friday afternoon, Inquilab Moncho had first staged the blockade at Shahbagh, halting all in the area. The protest carried on throughout the night, with protesters camping at the intersection.
