Inspire children to read Bangabandhu's biography

BD envoy to Thailand urges expat parents

Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand Saida Muna Tasneem has called upon the expatriate Bangladeshi parents on Saturday to encourage their children to read the biography of Bangabandhu and to stand up against injustice, oppression and suppression, reports UNB.

"Let's ignite the compassionate, progressive and secular values of Bangabandhu in our children and youth to stand against any discrimination or extremism," she said.

The Ambassador was speaking as chair of a discussion session titled 'Bangabandhu: Our Inspiration" on the life and works of Bangabandhu.

Expatriate Bangladesh children living in Thailand participated in the event as part of a daylong programme to observe the 98th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day.

On this occasion, Bangladesh Embassy has taken an initiative to gift Thailand the "Bangabandhu Chair" at the AIT and also translated version of his historic 7th March Speech in Thai language.

A large number of expatriate Bangladesh children spontaneously took part in the discussion session.

Earlier, the Embassy organised a thematic painting competition on 'Bangabandhu and Bangladesh" participated by expatriate children from age 2 to 18 at the Bangladesh Embassy premises on the occasion.

The "Bangabandhu and Bangladesh Art Exhibition" was inaugurated by Ambassador Tasneem and the paintings were put on display at the Embassy premise for viewing by general public.

Later the Ambassador distributed certificates and prizes among the children who participated in the painting competition. Traditional Bangladeshi food was served.

Messages issued on the occasion by the President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister were read out and a special prayer and milad mahfil was offered for the salvation of the departed soul of the Father of the Nation.
