KUSHTIA, May 12 (BSS): Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq said on Saturday BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman evidently instigated the students in raising the anti-quota protest.

"There was clear evidence that the movement was patronised by others. Tarique tried to turn the anti-quota protest into a movement to free BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia," the minister said.

He came up with the observations while addressing a rally organised on the occasion of inaugurating a road being built in the name of Freedom Fighter Rashidul Alam (Anis) by district administration in Kushtia this noon.

"The aim of this movement might have been an honest one, but later it turned motivated and BNP tried to take to the street through this movement," he added.

Awami League advisory council member Rashidul Alam, district Awami League president Sadar Uddin Khan, senior vice president Haji Robiul Islam

and general secretary Asgar Ali were present on the occasion, among others.
