Bangladesh Jamaat-e- Islami (BJI) Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman has said if voted to power his party will build a society based on justice, dignity, equitable and shared prosperity for the country's all citizens.

"Bangladesh stands once again at a historic crossroads. Together with you (people), we aspire to build a Bangladesh founded on Insaf, dignity and shared prosperity, he said at a Policy Summit 2026 organised by the party at a city hotel on Tuesday.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman also presented and discussed his party's visions for the country and outlined the party's policies and governance agenda for the 13th parliamentary election.

"Democratic institutions have weakened, accountability has eroded and citizens have too often been denied their rightful voice," said Dr Shafiqur Rahman.

He further said: "Over the past 17 years governance failures and authoritarian practices have hollowed out institutions and constrained democratic space. And in July 2024, one again, the people, particularly our youth, rise to reclaim their voice, their rights and their future."

"Today our challenge is not survival, but stability. The economy has grown, yet the quality of work has weakened," he maintained.

The Jamaat leader further said the challenges and realities of the country must be confronted honestly.

He said that millions of Bangladeshi migrant workers demonstrate deep patriotism through their labour and sacrifices. Their remittance supports families, helps stabilise the country's economy and connect Bangladesh to the global labour market.

About the role of women in building the country's future he said: "Expanding women's participation is not only a matter of justice, but also it is an economic necessity."

"Good governance is central to this transformation. We believe that when the state delivers services fairly, and predictably, citizens respond with trust, compliance and initiative."

Dr Shafiqur Rahman unveiled his party's pledges including zero tolerance against corruption, reopening closed mills and factories under public- private partnership, creating business friendly environment, providing fresh graduates with interest-free loan, providing free health care services to persons above 60 and children below five.

\A good number of foreign diplomats and senior leaders of Jamaat-e- Islami attended the policy dialogue.
