Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has launched a 36-day nationwide campaign, beginning with a candlelight vigil, to mark the anniversary of the July mass uprising and pay tribute to its martyrs.

The opening event, titled "Aloy Aloy Smriti Samujjwal", was held on Monday night at the Central Shaheed Minar on the Dhaka University campus. JCD leaders and activists from various units gathered to honour those who lost their lives during the historic student-people movement.

Senior BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Political Adviser to the Chairperson Amanullah Aman, JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib, General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, former JCD president Asifuzzaman Ripon, and other central leaders were present at the event.

"This is not just about lighting candles; it marks the beginning of a new journey towards democracy," said Rizvi. "Dhaka University was once a symbol of fear and oppression. Now, it glows with the light of hope. Sheikh Hasina tried to silence the students, but she failed. With this light, our 36-day campaign begins."

Amanullah Aman said, "This July campaign is a continuation of our historic struggle. It was not forged in a day, but through the blood and sacrifices of thousands. We now dream of a Bangladesh free from the tyranny of killer Hasina. The blood of martyrs Wasim and Sayed will not be in vain."
