JL activist's arrest triggers road blockade in Ctg

CHITTAGONG, Nov 10 (UNB): Vehicular movement on the Chittagong-Khagrachhari road remained suspended for five hours as some Jubo League (JL) leaders and activists of Fatikchhari upazila on Friday blocked different points of the road protesting the arrest of a fellow.

Jakir Hossain Mahmud, officer-in-charge (OC) of Fatikchhari Thana, said police arrested the JL activist Emaj Uddin Prokash Jam (30), along with two rounds of bullets from his house on Thursday night.

Protesting the arrest, hundreds of leaders and activists of the party put up barricade at different points from Najirhat Jhonkar intersection to Bibir Hat bus stand in the upazila headquarters around 7:00 am, the OC said.

They also burned tyres on the road, halting vehicular movement that caused suffering to the passengers.
