SHAHJALAL UNIVERSITY, Apr 9 (UNB): Renowned writer and professor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal on Monday said job quota reform is needed to protect the honour of freedom fighters (FFs).
Talking to reporters at Dr MA Wazed Miah IICT Building on the campus, Zafar Iqbal said, "The quota ratio in our country is not appropriate."
"There has been anger among people over freedom fighters' quota. Freedom fighters, their children and their families are being humiliated. We must remain alert so that no one can disrespect them. Quota reform is necessary to secure the honour of freedom fighters," he said.
He also said, "Quota is given for promoting backward communities.
The quota ratio should certainly be rational and consistent."
He also condemned the police attack on protesting students demanding job quota reform at Shahbagh in Dhaka.
