Jatiya Party (JP) presidium member Brigadier General (retd) Kazi Mahmud Hasan died of cardiac arrest at United Hospital in Dhaka city on Tuesday night. Kazi Mahmud Hasan was taken to the hospital after he had fallen sick in his residence around 9:00pm and the doctors there declared him dead around 11:00pm, said his younger brother Kazi Mahbub Alam Golap. Mahmud Hasan is survived by his wife, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death. An army staff officer during the regime of President Hussain Muhammad Ershad, Mahmud Hasan joined the Kazi Jafar faction of Jatiya Party during the 10th parliamentary elections. His body has been kept at the mortuary of Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka Cantonment, according to UNB.
