JASHORE, Aug 13 (UNB): A 50-year-old man was hacked to death by unidentified assailants just after midnight on Tuesday in Daulatdihi Tarafdarpara village under Sadar upazila of Jashore.
The victim, Rezaul Islam, is the son of Golam Tarafdar of the same village. He was reportedly involved with the Jubo League, the youth wing of the Awami League.
According to locals, the attackers allegedly drag Rezaul out of his home late at night before killing him. However, the exact motive behind the murder remains unclear.
On information, teams from Kotwali Police Station and the Detective Branch (DB) Police rushed to the scene, said Inspector (Investigation) Kazi Babul of Kotwali Police Station.
The body has been sent to the Jashore General Hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
Law enforcement officials said Rezaul had several criminal cases filed against him and was known for his intimidating presence in the area, though his exact political position within the Jubo League could not be confirmed.
