Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will not take to the streets if the government can resolve the ongoing political tension through productive dialogue, said party's senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Sunday.

"Oikya Front has continued with its call for holding talks according to seven-point demand while the 'key' to resolve the political crisis is in the hand of the Prime Minister," he said while speaking at a press briefing at the party's Nayapaltan central office in the city.

Referring to the Prime Minister's remark 'dialogue is going on in one hand and movement on the other, it isn't understandable to me', Mr Rizvi said, "Tough movement hasn't started yet ... opposition political parties will not go for movement if you resolve the crisis through dialogue."

He said talks with the political parties are going on and no decision has yet come from the dialogues ... "But the Election Commission (EC) has been taking preparation to announce the election schedule which is 'motivated'."
