The investigation officer (IO) prepared fake documents to file the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, claimed Khaleda's lawyer during placing the defence argument for the sixth day on Wednesday, reports UNB.
Khaleda Zia's lawyer Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali alleged that the IO of the case Harun-Ur- Rashid prepared fake document to fabricate the case and plaintiffs delivered 'white lie' in testimony before the court to harass Khaleda Zia.
On the contrary, case should be filed against those who filed the graft case by using fraudulence, he argued.
"The whole case is imagery and supernatural and in a fake case Khaleda should not get punishment rather, she should be acquitted from all the charges," he said.
Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of the makeshift court adjourned the argument hearing for the sixth day and ordered to place rest of the argument on Thursday.
On July 3, 2008, the Anti-Corruption Commission filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case with Ramna Police Station accusing Khaleda Zia, her eldest son Tarique Rahman, and four others for misappropriating over Tk 21 million (2.10 crore) that came as grants from a foreign bank for orphans.
