Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said on Sunday BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's threat from jail to launch a movement is aimed at foiling the next general election, reports UNB..

"Begum Khaleda Zia's threat is actually one to unleash anarchy and fire terrorism, foil the election and create an abnormal situation in the country," he said.

The minister made the commensts while exchanging views with reporters at his office after Eid.

The minister also urged the country's people to remain united to thwart such threats.

He said Khaleda is not the 'mother of democracy', no matter what BNP says. "She's the mother of militancy and terrorism."

Inu claimed BNP is spreading falsehood about Khaleda to hide her misdeeds, according to a PID handout.

On Saturday, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia called upon people to remain alert about the country's situation and continue the movement for the 'restoration of democracy'.
