Khalid criticises those who don't believe in '71 spirit

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Friday said none wants to listen about democracy from those who do not believe in Bangabandhu, the Liberation War and the independence, reports BSS.

The state minister was speaking as the keynote speaker at a ceremony of the weekly 'Dabanal', a newspaper during the Liberation War, at the conference lounge of the National Press Club.

Regarding the features and spirit of Dabanal newspaper, he said, there was a lot of propaganda during the Liberation War and several newspapers like Dabanal had conveyed the purpose and spirit of the Liberation War to the people by preventing those propagandas.

He lauded the role of the newspaper's founding publisher and patron Mohammad Selim who was also the eldest son of national leader Shaheed Captain Muhammad Mansur Ali as Selim played an important role in creating awareness in the world in protest against the August 15 carnage and in forming an commission of inquiry in the international arena by staying beside the two daughters (Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana) of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Awami League presidium member Advocate Kamrul Islam, freedom fighter Nasir Uddin Yusuf and Shaheed Muhammad Mansur Ali's son Rezaul Karim also spoke, among others, on the occasion.
