Krishak League president, ex-food minister remanded

A Dhaka court on Friday placed Bangladesh Krishak League (BKL) central committee president Samir Chandra on three-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of Dulal Sardar during the student-led uprising, reports BSS.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza passed the order as police produced Samir before the court and pleaded to place him on seven-day remand.
Police rounded up Samir Chandra from the city's Badda area at 12:10am on October 4.
Dulal joined anti-discrimination student movement on July 18. As their procession came in front of BRAC University in Badda, Awami League cadres opened fire on them, killing Dulal on the spot.
The case was filed on September 26 against 45 people, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Meanwhile, a Dhaka court on Friday placed former food minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder on seven-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of Daffodil International University student Ramij Uddin Rup in the capital's Karwan Bazar area during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saifuddin Hossain passed the order as police produced the former minister before the court and pleaded to place him on 10-day remand.
A team of detective branch of police arrested Sadhan from the capital's Bashundhara residential area on October 3.
According to the case documents, Rup, 21, was gunned down in Karwan Bazar area on August 4 as he was taking part in anti-discrimination student movement.
