Kushtia-1 ex-MP Sarwar Jahan held in city

Police have arrested former lawmaker from Kushtia-1 constituency AKM Sarwar Jahan Badsha in the the capital's Mohammadpur area, reports BSS.

Sarwar Jahan was arrested from Basila area around 2:00 pm on Tuesday, Officer-in- Charge (OC) of Mohammadpur Police Station Iftekar Hasan said. The detainee is an accused of attacking students and the public during the July mass uprising in Kushtia, he confirmed.

Mohammadpur Police Station had registered 36 cases linked to the attacks on the protest rally in Mohammadpur area during July mass uprising and the detainee might have connection in the several attacks, he said.

"We're now reviewing the cases to be confirmed whether Sarwar Jahan was an accused in any case registered with Mohammadpur Police Station," he added.
