Left-leaning student bodies to lay siege to edn ministry Feb 25

Pragatishil Chhatra Jote (PCJ), an alliance of left-leaning student organizations, on Sunday announced to siege the education ministry on February 25 demanding resignation of the minister for failing to stop continued question paper leaks in different examinations, reports UNB.

Pragatishil Chhatra Jote coordinator and Bangladesh Chhatra Federation central president Golam Mostofa made the announcement at a press briefing held at the Madhu's Canteen of Dhaka University (DU) at noon.

They also demanded punishment for those involved with the crime and the perpetrators those taking bribes in education sector.

In a written statement Golam Mostofa said, "Question paper leak has now become a common incident in our country. All questions of public examinations are being made available in the internet and social sites before the exams are held. But the authority didn't punish anyone involved with question papers leaks."

He also alleged "a nexus between government employees, coaching centres, guidebook businesses, political activists and some teachers were masterminding the question paper leaks but the authorities have not appeared sincere or serious about breaking the nexus."

Pragatishil Chhatra Jote also announced to hold a protest rally across the country on February 14 to press home their three- point demand including education minister's resignation.

Chhatra Union President GM Zilani Shvo, Chhatra Front (Marxists) president Naima Khaled Monika, Chhatra Front president Imran Habib Rummon, Biplobi Chhatra Moitri's president Iqbal Kabir, joint-convener of Chhatra Oikyya Forum Sarkar Al Imran also attended the press conference among others.
