Locals spot AL leader's throat-slit body in M'singh

MYMENSINGH, July 4 (UNB): Police recovered throat-slit body of a local Awami League (AL) leader from a pond in his house at Khagati village in Trishal upazila on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Matin Master, a freedom fighter and also the president of ward no 8 of Mathbaria union unit Awami League.

Locals spotted the throat-slit body of Matin in his pond around 10:30 am and informed the matter to police.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to the local hospital morgue, said Jakiur Hossain, officer-in-charge of Trishal Police Station.

Matin came out from his home around 12 am on Tuesday and went to his pond to watch out, said his family members.

The motive behind the killing could not be known immediately, said the OC.
