Man seeks reg for party named ‘AL’

A man named Ujjal Roy has submitted an application to the Election Commission (EC) seeking registration for a political party named 'Awami League (AL),' reports UNB

In the application submitted on Monday, he sought either 'boat' or 'hilsa' as the party's electoral symbol. The address of the party's central office has been mentioned as 'Bangabandhu Avenue.'

The 'boat' is the electoral symbol of Bangladesh Awami League headed by ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Ujjal Roy, who hails from the Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur, filed the application for registration with the EC on Monday.

In the application, he signed as the party's president and stated that the party does not currently have a bank account.
