BARGUNA, July 31 (UNB): Aysha Siddika Minni filed on Wednesday a petition with a court Barguna seeking withdrawal of her confessional statement over the murder of her husband Rifat Sharif.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Sirajul Islam Gazi accepted the appeal and fixed August 14 for hearing it.
Minni's lawyer Mahbubul Bari said Minni was produced before the court along with other accused of the case.
Minni, arrested on July 16, was denied bail several times.
Her husband Rifat Sharif (22) was attacked with sharp weapons near the main gate of Barguna Government College on June 26. She appeared to be trying to protect him during the attack.
Police have so far arrested 16 people over the murder. Besides, main accused Sabbir Ahmed alias Nayon Bond was killed in a reported gunfight with law enforcers on July 02.
Minni reportedly confessed to her involvement in the murder before the court on July 19, two days after her arrest.
Her father Mozammel Hossain met her in jail on July 20 and alleged that she had been forced to make confession and accused a vested group of trying to divert the course of the case.
