Colonel Saif Shamim, commander of Alikadom military zone in Lama of Bandarban, visiting the spot where Awami League leader Alamgir Shikdar was killed by miscreants on Tuesday night Focus Bangla BANDARBAN, July 24 (UNB): A local leader of the ruling Awami League (AL) was hacked to death by miscreants at Hasnapara in Lama upazila on Tuesday night.
The dead is Alamgir Shikdar, former joint general secretary of Sarai union unit of AL. He was the son of Mohammad Ali of the area.
Quoting locals, Oppela Raju Naha, officer-in-charge (OC) of Lama thana, said a group of miscreants riding motorbikes, numbering about 12, attacked Alamgir's house around 11:00 pm and stabbed him indiscriminately.
He was killed on the spot.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy.
A young man, identified as Mongshai Marma, was detained for his suspected involvement in the murder, police said.
