Missing ex-BCL leader found dead in Narsingdi

Police have recovered the body of a former Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader from a sack three days after he went missing in Narsingdi's Belabo Upazila, report agencies.
The body was recovered from a pond in the upazila's Nager Bazar area around 8:0 pm on Thursday, said Belabo Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Nasir Uddin.
The dead, Azimul Quader Bhuiyan aged 40, hailed from Baghaber village in Bajnab union and was a poultry trader. He is the former general secretary of the union unit of BCL and former joint general secretary of the upazila unit of BCL.
According to his family, Azimul went missing after he left his poultry farm around 8:00 pm on Tuesday.
Relatives filed a general diary (GD) with Belabo Police Station the following day after they searched, but could not find him.
Locals found his body in a pond on Thursday night and informed the police station.
Azimul's nephew Md Umar Faruk said about 15 days before his disappearance, his uncle had hired two workers at the poultry farm. One of them was named Rubel, but the family does not know the name or identity of the other.
They are also missing along with all the chickens from the farm.
Inspector Nasir Uddin said police went to the scene and launched an investigation when the GD was filed. The body was recovered after it was found and reported.
The body has been sent to the Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
The police official added that the culprits would be identified through an investigation and brought to justice.
