Modernisation of judiciary imperative, says law minister

Law Minister A0nisul Huq said on Wednesday there is no alternative but to modernise judiciary for keeping pace with the developed world, reports BSS.

"There is no alternative to modernising judiciary to keep pace with the developed world in the 21st century. If we provide our judges with modern training, then they will be able to play special role in developing the judiciary. They will bring fresh changes to judicial service through using their own creativity and innovation," he said.

The minister came up with the observations while addressing the inaugural function of 138th refreshers course for senior assistant judges and equivalent officials at Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) in the city.

Presided over by JATI Director General Justice Khandaker Musa Khaled, the function was also addressed by Law and Justice Division Secretary Abu Saleh Sheikh Md Zahirul Haque.

Anisul further said, "To build Digital Bangladesh, we have to bring judiciary under digitisation process. The idea of Digital Bangladesh is not only limited within information and communication technology (ICT). With proper training, our judges will make the dream of building e-judiciary true by applying ICT."

The minister also narrated different initiatives taken by his ministry following the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to achieve the targets of SDG and Vision 2021.
