NDF slams hike in LPG price

National Democratic Front (NDF) has criticised the fresh rise in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and sought the government's immediate intervention in this regard, considering interest of the common consumers.

Acting president of NDF Chowdhury Ashiqul Alam and general secretary Brig Gen (Retd) M Jahangir Hossain in a statement issued on Friday blasted Tk151 hike in price of a 12-kg LPG cylinder in the private sector.

They urged the government to help keep the LPG price within the purchasing capacity of the limited-income group rather than allowing to raise it further.

The price of a 12-kg LPG cylinder has been increased to Tk1,391 (including VAT) from Tk1,240 that came into effect from Thursday last. The NDF leaders called upon the people to become vocal against the price hike of the cooking fuel.
