National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam stated that certain groups are trying to spread confusion and fear amid the party's rising popularity, but he emphasised that these attempts will fail, reports BSS.
"Any attempt to intimidate voters or seize polling centers will fail, as the people themselves will safeguard the voting process and ensure the victory of their rightful representatives.," he told a brief rally while campaigning for the elections in the capital Bhatar Polices Station area on Friday.
Nahid Islam conducted door-to-door campaign in support of the NCP's election symbol 'Shaplakoli' in the Bhatar area from 7:30am to 9:00am. Later, he addressed a roadside gathering on Bashtola Road near Bhatar Polices Station, attended by leaders and activists of the NCP, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and other partners of the 10-party alliance.
A campaign procession was also held from Bashtola towards Rampura Bridge.
The Dhaka-11 constituency comprises parts of Rampura, Badda, Bhatar and Hatirjheel areas.
The NCP convener said his party stands against dynastic politics, discrimination and corruption, and is committed to establishing justice, good governance and genuine democracy.
He urged the party leaders and activists to go door to door to gain public trust and ensure maximum voter turnout on polling day. He also called for voting in favour of the referendum.
Referring to the upcoming election, Nahid Islam said it is not merely a change of power but an opportunity to establish a new political order after years of authoritarian rule.
He said the sacrifices made by students, workers and ordinary people during the mass uprising were aimed at restoring democracy, equality and national sovereignty.
He pointed out that the Dhaka-11 constituency has long been affected by extortion, crime, traffic congestion and shortages of gas and electricity, and pledged to take effective measures to address these problems if elected.
