Nine leaders of AL, affiliates arrested

The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested nine leaders and activists of the banned Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organisations within 24 hours until 6:00am on Sunday.

They were involved in sudden processions and activities aimed at destabilising the country, sources at DB headquarters said.

The arrestees are Md Moksedur Rahman Molla Kishore, 47, president of Ward No 10 Swechchasebak League, Dhaka South City Corporation unit; Md Enamul Huda Lalu, 60, former president of Swechchasebak League, Sreenagar Upazila, Munshiganj; Md Abdul Gaffar, 56, publicity secretary of Matsyajibi League, Motijheel unit, Dhaka South; Baharul Islam Titu, 46, president of Ward No 25, Lalbagh unit, Dhaka South City; Md Saiful Islam Lion, 24, activist of Chhatra League, Mirpur, Dhaka North; Nayeem Noman, 60, forest and climate affairs secretary, Dhaka South unit; Md Humayun Kabir Rajon, 42, organising secretary of Jubo League, Ward No 66, Demra, Dhaka South; Md Mohiuddin Matabbar, 43, president of Charsamaiya Union unit, Bhola Sadar; and Sikder Sohel Hazari, 43, former vice-president of Chhatra League, Vatara Thana, Dhaka North.

Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said DB police of the Motijheel division arrested Moksedur Rahman during a raid at Tejgaon Industrial Area in the capital on Saturday evening around 6:00pm.
