Nine men of AL, front bodies held in city

Police have arrested nine leaders and activists of Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organisations in different places of the capital, reports BSS.
The arrestees are President of National Shramik League Narayanganj District unit and Organising Secretary of Dhaka South City Shramik League Md Jahangir Alam Bepari (62), former Chhatra League General Secretary of Wari Police Station Md Selim Reza (42), Vice President of Dhaka South City Awami Swechchhasebak League Abul Kalam Azad Khan (54), Organising Secretary of Tejgaon Shilpanchal Police Station Awami League Nazmul Hasan Palash (49), former Rajbari District Chhatra League Organising Secretary and Rajbari Thana Chhatra League Vice-President Md Moktar Hossain Sohan (33), Nalchiti Municipality Ward No-2 Councillor and Awami League Leader Md. Alam Howlader (50), Ward No-9 Awami League General Secretary of Sayedpur Union No-1 of Sitakunda Thana, Chittagong District Md. Sakhawat Hossain Mithu (48) and former Khilgaon Thana Chhatra League General Secretary Udayan Sharnal Madhav and Dhaka South City Swechchhasebak League Member Md. Ripon (38).
The first eight of them were arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) and Md. Ripon by Khilgaon Thana Police of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) from the capital's Jatrabari, Goran, Swamibag, Rampura and Sabujbag areas in the last 24 hours until Wednesday morning.
Deputy Commissioner of the DMP Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed their arrest.
