No chance for fascism to return, claims Rizvi

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and Political Adviser to the Prime Minister Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that the resurgence of fascism is no longer possible in the country, reports BSS.

"The people and democratic forces remain united...Any intimidation or evil activity of fascism must be resisted," he added.

Rizvi made the remarks while talking to journalists after a procession organised by BNP and its associated bodies in front of the BNP Nayapaltan central office in the capital.

The procession started from the party's central office, went around the Nightingale intersection, and concluded with brief speeches in front of the party office.

Rizvi said BNP and its associated bodies jointly organised the procession to 'resist any attempt of fascists to raise their head'.

"Those who once deprived people of a bright dawn, sunlight, normal and healthy lives, and their fundamental right to live are now attempting to create instability in the country by using stolen and laundered money in various ways," he said.

The veteran BNP leader said after a long time, a free and fair election was held reflecting the people's mandate. He also alleged that Sheikh Hasina had previously deprived people of their voting rights and formed a government characterized by misrule and authoritarian practices.

Besides, he said conspiracies are going on to create instability across the country in a bid to tarnish the image of the democratically elected government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Rizvi claimed that in the four months of the government no incidents of abduction, crossfire, or false cases have occurred.

Noting that the country is advancing towards progress, Rizvi said, "Conspiracies are underway to stop progress, prosperity, peace, multi-party democracy, and people's freedom of expression."
