NARAYANGANJ, Mar 8 (UNB): Pointing her finger at Awami League leader Shamim Osman and his family for the 2013 murder of Tanvir Ahmed Tawki, Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy said on Wednesday there is nothing to fear about Osman family.

"I am telling the killers that the day is not so far. I don't know whether you will be tried in the court or not, but one day you must face the court of the people. There is no reason to fear Osman family," said the Awami League leader.

She was speaking as the chief at a discussion meeting organised on the fifth anniversary of Tanvir Ahmed Tawki murder at the Muktamancha in Deobhog lake here on Wednesday evening.

"We want justice of all the killings including those organised by the Osman family. One day they will be brought to justice."

Tawki was found dead on the bank of the Shitalakhya River in Narayanganj on March 8, 2013, two days after he had gone missing.

Ivy also alleged that when the party (Awami League) is in power, the Osman family is not only killing people but also doing all sorts of other immoral work using the influence of the administration.

"I had a wish that people of this city will be brave and raise their voice against the family," she said.

"Now, it's come true. Ordinary people have proved it by capturing a gun-wielding Niazul with their bare hands."

"Maintain this courage," she urged.

Among others, Santrash Nirmul Tawki Mancha convener and Toki's father Rafiur Rabbi and educationist Hayat Mahmud were present on the occasion.
