Orders to seize tax files of ex-state ministers, MPs

A Dhaka court on Sunday ordered the seizure of tax files of former state ministers Zakir Hossain and Meher Afroz Chumki; former lawmakers Jahid Ahsan Russel and Sheikh Helal Uddin; Sheikh Helal's wife Sheikh Rupa Chowdhury; Tomal Monsur; and Jinat Pervin Chowdhury, wife of former chief whip Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury, reports BSS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing seven separate pleas of the Anti-Corruption Commission. The petition stated that separate cases have been filed against the accused under Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, Sections 4(2) and 4(3) of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012.
