Over 950,000 register for postal voting

The number of people who registered to vote through the Postal Voting app has exceeded 950,000.

An Election Commission (EC) media statement revealed the information on Monday afternoon, report agencies.

Expatriate Bangladeshis and its citizens inside, who are eligible for the registration but have not done it yet, have only two days to enroll.

On Wednesday, the EC had extended the voting registration deadline from December 25 to December31. The postal voting registration had begun on November 19.

The EC put the exact number of registered voters at 951,808, with 355,913 people registering from inside Bangladesh.

The registered Bangladeshi voters included 301,071 government officers. About 46,800 people on election duty and 4,367 Ansar members have also enrolled for postal voting.
