BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has greeted the countrymen on the occasion of Bangla New Year, saying this day returns to the life of the nation again and again in various forms and variations, reports BSS.

Noting that the New Year has an unbreakable relationship with the excitement of nature and the revival of life, he said, "Our culture and tradition are a strong foundation built since the distant past. Tradition, culture and human values together build a well-organised nation. Pahela Boishakh is a bright element in the identity of the nation."

Tarique Rahman said these in a post on his verified Facebook page on Sunday afternoon, highlighting the importance of Pahela Boishakh.

Calling for optimism in the New Year, the BNP leader said, "Every year, Pohela Baishakh inspires us to move forward on the path of excellence in the future, inspired by the light of the past. The past glory and opulence of our nation are transmitted to our hearts."

Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed the hope that this year's Pahela Baishakh celebration will remove divisions among the people.

"After the fall of the fascist from state power, this year's Pahela Baishakh will be celebrated in a free atmosphere. Therefore, I believe, the festival will be filled with mutual greetings by removing divisions among the people," he said in a message on the occasion of Bangla New Year.

Referring to the Bangla New Year as the embodiment of the entire Bangladeshis, Mirza Fakhrul said from the dawn of Baishakh, the festival fills people's hearts like a haven of peace.

He extended his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the people.

The BNP Secretary General said Bangla New Year is a bright and joyful festival of the national life. There will be no animosity or conflict in the festival and everyone's heart will be filled with vitality and abundance, he said, adding that this festival is also a symbol of solidarity.
