Palak, Jyoti shown arrested in separate graft cases

A Dhaka court on Monday showed former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Safi Muddaser Khan Jyoti, son of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, arrested in separate graft cases filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), reports BSS.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain passed the orders, as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the cases, ACC counsel Mahmud Hossain Jahangir told the news agency.
Of the two, Palak was shown arrested in a case filed under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act and Money Laundering Prevention Act. Investigation officer ACC assistant director Al Amin filed the petition before the court, pleading to show him arrested in the case.
On the other hand, investigation officer and ACC assistant director Md Abul Kalam Azam filed a petition to show Jyoti arrested in a case filed for amassing illegal wealth of Tk 19,89,78,502 in collusion with his father former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal. Jyoti is also accused of transferring and converting Tk 84,77,57,572 through a company launched in
his name.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak was arrested from capital's Nikunja Residential Area on August 14, while Jyoti was arrested from a house in the capital's Uttara area on September 13.
