People can oust govt through movement, says Amir Khasru

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 19: BNP standing committee member and former minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said they cannot oust the incumbent Awami League government by delivering their speeches, but people can topple the government through their movement.

"Nothing will happen even if we deliver powerful speeches. The speeches cannot give momentum to the anti-government movement. We have to make a systematic plan and announce the pro-people programmes to oust the government," he said while speaking as the chief guest at the divisional meeting held at Nasimon Bhaban in the city's Kazirdewri area this (Friday) afternoon.

Addressing the programme as the special guest, BNP Vice Chairman Mir Mohammed Nasir Uddin said, "The government's days are being numbered. The leaders of Chattogram can launch a movement against the government. We have to start the systematic movement with people from Chattogram."

Chaired by BNP Vice Chairman Mohammed Shahjahan, the meeting was moderated by its divisional organizing secretary Mahabuber Rahman Shamim.

Advisor to BNP chairperson Abul Khair Bhuiyan, Joinal Abedin Faruk, Dr Mamun Ahmed, joint secretary Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokan, publicity secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anny, convenor of Chattogram City BNP Dr Shahadat Hossain, labour secretary AMM Nazimuddin, Jafrul Islam Chowdhury, Moni Swapan Dewan, Shahjahan Chowdhury, Abul Hashem Bakkar, Abdul Wadud Bhuiyan, Abu Sufian, Golam Hyder and Depen Talukdar, among others, addressed the meeting.
