Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Member Tofail Ahmed said on Monday people of the country will vote against BNP in the upcoming polls as they still recall the incidents of torture carried out during the regime of BNP, reports BSS.

People of the country will give the answer of the torture carried out by BNP during its previous rule through voting against the party in the upcoming general election, he told journalists after getting allocation of electoral symbol of the 14-party alliance for the next polls this morning.

Tofail, also commerce minister, said people suffered unbearably when BNP was in the power in 2008 as they shut down the activities of Padma Bridge and community clinic in the country.

"The birth centenary of Father of the Nation and the 50th year of the country's independence will be celebrated in 2020 and 2021 respectively, he said.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has become a role model of devolvement in the world.

He also expressed the hope that the AL will win again in the next general election through the support of the countrymen.

Sadar Upazila AL president and Sadar Upazila Parishad chairman Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain, among others, were present.
