Police on Friday arrested ABM Mosharraf Hossain, training affairs secretary of BNP, from near Uttara while he was returning to the capital from Tongi, reports UNB.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told UNB that plainclothes police detained Mosharraf around 4:30pm.
Rizvi strongly condemned and protested the arrest of the BNP leader and demanded his immediate release.
Earlier, at a press conference Rizvi alleged that police had arrested at least 275 party leaders and activists including its standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy in the past four days, ahead of party's executive committee meeting on Saturday.
