Prime Minister slates attack on Dr Zafar Iqbal

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina strongly condemned on Saturday the attack on Dr Zafar Iqbal and asked the authorities concerned to bring the perpetrator to justice, reports UNB.

"The Prime Minister is constantly enquiring about Muhammad Zafar Iqbal," PM's press secretary Ihsanul Karim said.

Another report adds: Strongly condemning the attack on SUST Professor Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, BNP on Saturday alleged that those who want to fish in troubled waters are behind it.

"We strongly condemn the attack on him; we never support such terror incidents," said BNP secretary general MirzaFakhrulIslam Alamgir adding,

"We think the incident is part of another conspiracy of those who want to fish in troubled waters."

The senior BNP leader came up with the remarks while talking to reporters at BNP chairperson's Gulshan office after concluding their senior leaders' meeting.

Renowned writer and teacher of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal was seriously injured in a knife attack.
