Pro-BNP docs demand 'proper medical tests' for Khaleda

April 10, 2018 00:00:00

Pro-BNP physicians demanded on Monday 'proper medical tests' for BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, who has remained in Old Dhaka Central Jail on Nazimuddin Road in the city since her imprisonment in a graft case, reports UNB.

They alleged Khaleda Zia's physical problems cannot be diagnosed with some 'simple medical tests' conducted as per the prescription of the medical board formed by the government.

They also called on the government to immediately release her from jail so that she can properly undergo all the necessary medical tests and receive proper treatment on her own.

The pro-BNP physicians, under the banner of 'Bishishtha Chiki?shak Samaja', made the demand at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters' Unity in the city.

Speaking at the programme, M Saiful Islam, a professor of Bangladesh Medical University, said, "The medical team chosen by the government advised doing some common x-ray and blood tests for initial investigation. It's not possible to identify her diseases, subtle problems and real health condition through those tests."

He said Khaleda needs intensive care and observation apart from modern medical tests like CT scan and MRI for her proper treatment. "So, we demand the government ensure her better treatment through her unconditional release."
