Qamrul, Palak, Atiq, Kamal Majumder shown arrested in fresh cases

Former food minister Qamrul Islam, ex-state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former state minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder and former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Atiqul Islam have been shown arrested in separate cases filed with different police stations in the capital over their role during July movement, report agencies.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Istiaq passed the order on Monday after the investigating officers of the cases produced them before the court.

Earlier at 10:08 am, they were brought to the dock from the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court.

Then they were escorted from the court to jail.

Among them, Palak was show arrested in the case filed with Jatrabari Police Station over killing Sajedur Rahman Omar and Jahangir Alam.

Kamal Ahmed Majumder was shown arrested in connection with the case filed with Kafrul Police Station over killing Tariqul Islam Rubel, while Atiqul Islam and Qamrul Islam were shown arrested in the murder case of Sajid Hawlader filed with Badda Police Station.

Advocate Qamrul Islam was detained from the capital’s Uttara Sector 12 on November 18, 2024.
